What costs more?
When it comes to vitamins and supplements, false product claims and false advertising is rampant. Beware shopping for vitamins by price tags alone. Often times cheap vitamins available in retail stores have quality issues that make them undesirable. Many popular brand name vitamins are useless because they are bound chemically in ways that prevent them from being absorbed well in the blood stream. Remember, your supplements are technically not in your body just because you swallowed them. Only if they pass through the intestine wall and into your bloodstream are they inside you. Manufacturers know that the average consumer is not trained in chemistry and is unable to evaluate which form of iron is most easily absorbed in the intestine or which form of calcium is best absorbed by bone tissue as examples. This allows them to take quality shortcuts while making tablets at lowest prices which appeals to unwitting consumers on tight budgets.
Is your brand GMP Certified?
Check your vitamins for quality by making sure they are "GMP certified". If they don't have this stamp of superior quality then the manufacturers may be cutting corners to save money so they can compete with the low prices of popular brand names on the shelves they share in retail stores.
We recommend only top quality supplements. Because of this, only a couple of manufacturers are recommended to our patients.
